SCHOOL VISITS

Exploring Heritage:

As the 2025 Capital of Arab Culture, Kuwait is inviting people from around the world to come and discover the rich history of the Arab World.  The DAI is issuing a similar invitation to schools and classrooms in Kuwait: come and visit the exciting exhibitions of objects from The al-Sabah Collection, all telling different stories of our shared heritage.  At the beginning of the school year, the Amricani Cultural Centre will feature exibitions covering pre-Islamic culture on the Arabian Peninsula through the 18th century PLUS Story of Amricani and MAK (Modern Architecture Kuwait 1949 – 1989). The 20th century offerings remain, as does Home of Kind Words, an exhibition dedicated to calligraphy in art from the Islamic world, but new exhibitions are added over the course of the 2024/2025 school year.

There are several different options for classroom visits, starting with Arabic or English. Teachers/schools can book a 4 Cs visit, using Harvard University Project Zero thinking routines to ensure that students explore their critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creative skills during the visit.  Teachers also have the option of cooridinating with the DAI team to create a visit that concentrates on a subject or skill (like history, creative writing, drawing, even basic math) the teacher wants highlighted. Whatever approach is taken, previous experience shows that the students will learn during their visit and have fun in the process.
